Duck Dash [Demo]
Hey, to anyone seeing this I wanted to put a bit of a warning here to not download the game yet. The demo here does work, the only issue is that you kind of have to jump through some hoops to run the game, I’m pretty sure you need to download something else to be able to open the file? I‘ll have to find a way to fix that before I start promoting/polishing this page or the game itself. Speaking of which, for anyone who actually gets this now (or to anyone seeing this after the issue is fixed) I can share some of the things I want to add to the game before the final version is done!
1) Change the name- currently the name is “Duck Dash”, as most can probably see. It’s admittedly a bit too unoriginal for me, and I also saw another person’s creation with the same name when trying to set this page up, so I’ll have to change it.
2) Update the graphics and sounds- Believe it or not but everything I have done so far is in this demo, it’s just made inaccessible for now. That’s because it needs loads of polish! Most of the art in this demo is comparatively new, and I started with the art for the game’s first world so I could put together this demo. The music in right now was something I made and added hastily so I could get a playable build up asap. The sounds were also made right before this upload, but that also had its own reasons for being done (the old ones had some issues). Since most of the gameplay is working as intended I’ll be prioritizing redrawing the sprites and making new sounds and music, as well as adding *just* a bit more to what’s been done in order to make it look and sound as nice as possible!
3) Cutscenes- for anyone brave enough to dig through my dumpster fire of a game you’ll probably find some “cutscenes” mixed in with the levels, quotes added because they’re terrible. I’m planning to both fully revamp them and also make a basic story to tie the whole game together! That also leads me to:
4) Library- I want to add a library to the title page that not only lets you rewatch the cutscenes in the game, but it’ll also show off all the characters and obstacles from the game as well! I might also be able to hide some things like controls and settings there too, to add a bit of theming to otherwise bland screens. I’m also thinking of adding some lore/details to the character, but I’m not 100% it’s necessary, especially since I’m focusing on gameplay and only adding “story” to tie the levels together.
With all of the planned features out of the way I want to apologize for the technical difficulties regarding running Duck Dash’s demo, but I also want to thank you for checking this out! Hopefully I’ll be able to share even more of the game as it gets finished! If you want to hear more about me or the game’s progress you can check out my Twitter. It *should* be on my profile, but if not it’s @Just_Tr4sh
UPDATE:
I'm working on uploading a .zip version that should probably work as an in-browser version instead of needing to be downloaded, but I'm having issues with there not being an intel.HTML file in the exported folder. This issue should hopefully be fixed soon.
